Dribbling is one of the most fundamental skills in soccer. It is the ability of the player to move the ball on his own up and down the field. Actually, it’s pretty easy? Well, to dribble the ball accurately and using skills such as feints and quick changes of direction requires a fair amount of practiced skill. Without dribbling skills you will not be an effective soccer player. There are times when you will be in confined areas and need to dribble around the defense to get the ball forward again. Dribbling is what you would use in fast break situations or while in high traffic and being challenged for possession of the ball. Whatever your situation, the goal is to properly dribble the soccer ball where you want to go.
First contact of the ball which is called “trapping” is a skill that must be learned by all youth soccer players. It doesn’t matter if you play offense or defense, your first contact on the ball must be a controlled event. If this is not accurate, you could end up losing the ball or worse, it could very well lead to a goal: And not by your team! Becoming skilled trapping the ball is one good reason that soccer players, if they want to be good soccer players, want to learn how to juggle the ball. Because you never know which direction or at what speed a ball is coming at you that you need to control, all that juggling comes into play when trying to get control of that ball. When practicing trapping, you may find the ball going off in all directions. But with practice you will find that you’ll be able to keep the ball right in front of you and maintain control of it no matter how hard or high it was kicked to you.
Push Passing is the most often used and the most basic of passes. It is made with inside of the foot. You can also use the outside of the foot, but the accuracy is 
generally not the same.
Long Ball Passing is used when you need to get the ball to a teammate on the other side of the field. When making a long pass you want to approach the ball at an angle, keeping the ankle locked and make a full swing which follows through on the ball.
The finish is a term used to describe the actions taken to finish the play off. It includes shooting, volleys, headers or anything that ends in a goal. The finish is a very important aspect of the game and is something most everyone enjoys learning.
